Book Review: Cancer and the New Biology of Water by Thomas Cowan, MD

Dr. Thomas Cowan is a holistic medical doctor in San Francisco who helps his patients prevent and cure disease through diet, natural medicine, and alternative approaches. His book Cancer and the New Biology of Water is a fascinating look at how water may hold the secrets to preventing and treating cancer.

In the book, Dr. Cowan explains there are actually four states of water, three that we’re familiar with — ice, liquid, and steam — and one that he’s defined as “gel.” This gel is the body’s life force within every cell and the health of our bodies is defined by the health of that gel. Dr. Cowan states that restoring the intracellular gel is the key to treating cancer more effectively.

Another interesting observation from Dr. Cowan’s book is that our blood serum has the same mineral composition as seawater. When we eat processed salt, we create an imbalance that causes ailments. He cites the work of René Quinton, a biologist who lived in France from 1867 to 1925, who learned how to refine ocean water to create a plasma that was used to treat disease during his lifetime. Dr. Cowan feels this marine plasma is key to restoring balance in the human body.

Dr. Cowan writes about his concerns with the risks of EMF, or electromagnetic frequencies. Today, we’re surrounded by EMFs — electronic devices, Wi-Fi, and mobile 3G, 4G, and 5G waves — and Dr. Cowan believes they’re a factor in common diseases.

Another contributor to decreased health is deuterium in the water we drink, according to Dr. Cowan. Deuterium affects energy pathways in the cells and can cause errors in our DNA. As we age, greater amounts of deuterium accumulate in our bodies, leading to an unhealthy imbalance.

Dr. Cowan is passionate about encouraging doctors and researchers to consider alternative treatments for cancer.
