When patients come to us for help with headaches, we have one main goal. That is to help them achieve lasting pain relief naturally and drug-free. By doing so, we spare them from the need for medications to dull their pain. Our staff takes an intense interest in finding the correct cause of each patient’s headache and providing the right treatment so they can enjoy life headache-free.
Much success has been had to provide relief from the following types of headaches.
Tension headaches
Tension headaches often have their source right next door—in the neck. Persistently tense muscles, poor posture, and accumulated trauma that damage the neck's alignment or free movement of the neck can cause headaches.
Cluster headaches
Cluster headaches strike quickly, causing intense pain around one eye. They occur in clusters, periods during which headaches show up every day. Cluster headaches are less common than tension headaches.
Migraines
Migraines are mental, physical, and emotional ordeals that can last from a few hours to a few days. These headaches are marked by severe throbbing or pulsing pain and may include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light and sound, visual changes, fluctuating moods, and weakness.
The solution for headaches depends on what our examination finds. Here at Campbell Health Center, we work closely with every patient to look at any factors that could be triggering their pain. We may need to rule out allergies or problems with a patient’s diet. We ask about trauma or illnesses that might have lingering effects. Then we can develop the right treatment plan to alleviate the cause. Their recovery could include any or all of the following treatments.
Chiropractic adjustments
Everyone’s life includes a few falls, accidents, or impacts. These small (or not so small) impacts can gradually damage a patient's spine's alignment and free movement. When the spine is out of alignment, muscles tense up. Chiropractic adjustments gradually and gently restore normal movement and shape to the spine, thereby relieving the source of headaches.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is an excellent addition to a chiropractic program. Muscles that have become shortened or stiff due to stress or spinal misalignments can be loosened with therapeutic massage.
Physical Therapy
People with headaches have often lost the full range of neck, back, or shoulders motion without realizing it. Physical therapy to restore proper range of motion, flexibility, and strength goes a very long way toward restoring optimum balance throughout the body.
Spinal Decompression Therapy
A damaged or herniated disc in the neck can cause a persistent headache. Spinal decompression gently stretches and releases the vertebrae in the neck to allow fluids to hydrate each disc, improving healing.
